Do you want guidance for your heart from God?
Clear undeniable advice from God when indecision plagues you from past mistakes?
Ponder the greatest need in your heart, the division, the difficult choices to be made, the need for one thing over another and the desire to be in His will above all else……..then open His word and find out what He has to say to you.
A sermon I heard on the radio, from Stephen Rummage , referred to Jacob’s indecision in Genesis chapter 42, as “fear of the future– due to pain from the past –paralyzing him in the present”. Jacob could not let Benjamin go when the ‘Man in charge’ of Egypt told his sons not to return for food unless they brought their younger brother, Benjamin, with them. The pain of losing Joseph years before caused him to fear the loss of Benjamin if he allowed him to go. Yet, it he didn’t, he would lose not only Benjamin, but all that he loved to starvation.
We do that too, don’t we? We allow the pain of the past cloud our future and paralyze us in indecision, inaction, or just plain apathy.
Indecision was the yearning of my heart the past few days. Finding time to fit everything I want to do day to day is difficult. Escaping present doubt, lingering from past mistakes, prevents me from making key decisions that may impact another. So, I prayed about the situation and when I opened His word, this is where my eyes were drawn:
“This is what the Lord says—–
he who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters,
who drew out the chariots and horses,
the army and reinforcements together,
and they lay there, never to rise again,
extinguished stuffed out like a wick;
Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the desert
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.”
I know He is talking to the Israelites and not me, but wow is His advice relevant to my situation! May we forget the former things and not dwell on the past. He is doing a new thing! And may we perceive Him making a way in our desert, so that we may proclaim His holy name and praise Him!
Have a blessed day!
