How awesome is God that we were created for
Isa. 43:7 says, “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
Our small study group is beginning Beth Moore’s “A Woman’s Heart, God’s dwelling Place”. This bible study teaches us about the tabernacle. A place of residency. A place God specifically designed.
Exodus 25:8-9 says,
“Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. Make this tabernacle and all it’s furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.”
God stepped along side Adam and Eve in the garden before the fall, Genesis records the “sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day’ (Gen 3:8) The placement of the tree and the deception of the serpent were temptation.
A young lady asked me once, “Why did God put
the tree there?”
I thought that was a great question.
When my children were young, I would place tempting items like cookies on top of the refrigerator. Out of reach until they ate their vegetables. I wanted them to obey me out of respect and love, but I knew the taste of something forbidden may be very difficult.
My simple logic understands God wants what’s best for me, just as I did for my children. He places things out of my reach for my protection. However, he is not going to force me to comply. He gives me a choice, just like He gave Adam and Eve a choice. Be content with me or chase after the world. He did not create a non-thinking, non-reacting, unfeeling, non-curious human……He made us is His image! The test was to love Him and be content with Him.
Of course, sin occurs and separates us from God. He no longer walks in the garden and he banned Adam and Eve from ever accessing the tree of life…..they soon learn why.
As people populate the earth, sin grows and grows. Yet, God in his mercy still desires to meet with us, bring His presence to us. The sanctuary is a consecrated or holy thing or place. A hallowed part, an asylum an area devoted to the sphere of the sacred. Bible Gateway biblical reference shares these passages:
God says, “I will meet with you….give commands…..speak with you.
Be happy dear friends, God desires to meet with you. Those cookies my girl climbed the wall for and those things we reach for in the world will never satisfy like the Holy presence of God in our lives! He is walking with us daily if we’ve accepted His son Jesus as savior. His spirit dwells in us , loving us, guiding us, and helping us face the sin of this world… and our own.
Won’t you meet with him today?
